A full house of over 300 were present at Sindlesham to witness the Annual Convocation presided over by Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, Ian Richard Given Hopgood.
This was a splendid occasion where Berkshire were pleased to welcome many distinguished visitors from 23 surrounding Provinces including 10 Grand Superintendent's together with representatives from all 38 Chapters in Berkshire.
The Grand Superintendent re-appointed E Comp. Jem Whitmore PGStB as 2nd Provincial Grand Principal and E Comp. Mike Warner PAGDC, as 3rd Provincial Grand Principal. The Grand Superintendent also confirmed the continued appointment of E Comp. Bernard Greenwold PGSwdB as Deputy Grand Superintendent.

Before appointing and investing his officers for the year, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent was delighted to present Certificates of Meritorious Service to two outstanding RA Companions, Excellent Companions GORDON STEPHEN SMITH and RONALD GEORGE SIMMS and the full text of his announcement can be found here.
In his address, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, referred to the close links and strong bonds with Provincial Grand Lodge and our support with a further contribution of £5,000 for the Mark Benevolent Fund to assist the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge of Berkshire in its 2017 Festival. Several new initiatives were announced including the introduction of a new logo, a revamped website, promotional banners, which were unveiled to the Companions present. Plans were also unveiled to promote our order in Lodges throughout the Province, with the use of a new presentation entitled 'The Fourth step' under the direction of E Comp. Mike Warner Third Provincial Grand Principal. The full text of the address can be found here.
Following the Annual Convocation, a splendid Festive Board was held in the Flavell suite. This was enjoyed by all and was rounded off by a toast to the Grand Superintendent by The Deputy GS, E. Comp Bernard Greenwold who, in his own inimitable style, took to the stage to deliver his version of William Shakespeare's 'Lend me your ears' speech adapted as a tribute to the Grand Superintendent's qualities of his inspirational leadership of the Province. In response E Comp. Ian thanked Bernard for his toast and the Companions both in Berkshire and the neighbouring Provinces for the magnitude of their support. E Comp. Ian said how proud he is to be a member of this wonderful Province, let alone serve as its Most Excellent Grand Superintendent.
During this year several team visits were made to Chapters in the Province, a Banner Dedication was carried out and several 50 year Certificates were presented. He thanked the out-going Provincial Officers for their dedicated support and participation in all these activities. But his favourite experience of all, was the look of absolute surprise on the face of E Comp. Gary Mitchell OBE, our well respected Past Deputy Grand Superintendent when no less than three Grand Superintendent from Berkshire visited his Lodge in Aldershot to celebrate his 50 years in Masonry.
